ENGLEWOOD CLIFFS, NEW JERSEY, 2024 — CineAsia will honor Jessie Chou Van Patten, Former Executive Director & Chief Marketing Officer, IMAX China, with the CineAsia Career Achievement Award on Thursday, 12 December 2024 during the Awards Ceremony at the Millennium Hilton in Bangkok, Thailand.

With a distinguished career spanning over nearly three decades in the entertainment and hospitality industries, Mei Hui Chou (Jessie) brings a wealth of expertise and accomplishment to her professional endeavors. As the former Executive Director and Chief Marketing Officer at IMAX China, Ms. Chou oversaw Film Selection and Film Programming and played a pivotal role in shaping the company’s marketing and theatre operations landscape from 2006 until her retirement in April 2024. Under her leadership, she directed and executed comprehensive marketing strategies for an extensive network of nearly 800 IMAX theatres and over 100 fan clubs across Greater China.
Prior to her executive directorship, Ms. Chou held the position of Senior Vice President, Theatre Marketing & Operations, and Human Resources for the IMAX Corporation’s Asia Pacific region since 2006. During this period, she successfully planned and established over 200 new IMAX theatres in various markets, including Greater China, Japan, South Korea, Thailand, Malaysia, Singapore, India, and the Philippines, significantly expanding the company’s Asia Pacific footprint.
Before embarking on her impressive tenure at IMAX, Ms. Chou served as the General Manager of Cinema Operations for Warner Village Cinemas Co., Ltd. (now Vieshow Cinemas), a joint venture between Warner Bros. and Village Roadshow, in Taiwan from 1997 to 2005. During this period, she oversaw the groundbreaking development and operations of the first international cineplexes in nine locations throughout the island.
Ms. Chou’s diverse background also includes a successful stint in the hospitality sector, where she worked with esteemed international brands such as the InterContinental Hotels Group in 1997 and Shangri-La Hotels and Resorts from 1995 to 1997.
A testament to her academic prowess, Ms. Chou earned an Executive MBA with Honors Thesis from the prestigious National Taiwan University in June 2005. Her educational journey began with a Diploma with Merit in Hotel Management from Les Roches Hotel Management School, Switzerland, between 1991 and 1994. She received a Bachelor’s degree in Foreign Language and Literature from the esteemed National Tsing Hwa University, Taiwan, which she obtained in June 1991.
